About Me
Hi! I'm Crystal Earl.
Thank you for visiting my photography website!
Here's a little about me:
* I have 7 children (yes, 7!)
* I love the outdoors.
* When I find a good book, I will sometimes sacrifice my sleep to discover the happy ending (hopefully). I also love cuddling in a blanket to read on rainy days.
* I am a night owl! Thank goodness my husband is an early bird, so we have the kids covered at all hours.
* I love to make lists. Of many things. My hubby teases me that I make lists of my lists. I just realized you are reading one of them! :)
* I love kids! (You could probably tell from my first 'about me' fact!)
* I enjoy being crafty. You name it - sewing, embroidering, crocheting, using my Cricut, taking pictures, and many other things!
* I love meeting new people and finding out fun facts about them, but I still struggle with calling people on the phone (even just to order pizza).
* My husband is an amazing, inventive cook, and I am always more than happy to give him the opportunity to share his talent! ;)
* I realize that I can be a perfectionist, I'm learning to let go and enjoy life with all the variety it contains.
I was born and raised in Arizona. I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (because even back then I loved kids) and taught elementary school for a few years until my husband and I welcomed our first baby into our home. I thrived on being a stay-at-home-mom for 17+ years to all my wonderful kiddos and love every minute I get to spend with these amazing humans! Now that all of my children are school-aged, I enjoy being back in the classroom. I have been spending my time substituting several different grades and love it. We moved to the beautiful state of Michigan in 2007, my husband's home state, and we can't imagine being anywhere else.
For years I wanted more from our retail photo studio pictures and wanted to really capture the sweet faces that I loved. So I decided to save up for a good camera and try my hand at doing it myself. I took many classes back then, and still continue to refresh my skills with new classes to improve and to learn ways to be more creative.
My extended family is made of many members that serve in the law enforcement and military occupations. I am so grateful for the sacrifices that they make for our country and communities. That is one of the reasons "blue" is part of my business. I give back to them and other similar professions (police, fire, first responders, and military) by offering a discount to capture their family moments.
I know life can be so short. Taking quality photos of those you love is so important. In 2012, one of our precious daughters passed away and I wish that I had better pictures of her and her short life. Sometimes pictures are the only things to help bring our memories back to a time that we shared with loved ones. I try to make my sessions affordable yet competitive in our area's market because I know families like mine that may be on a tight budget deserve to have great quality memories of their loved ones.
I take pictures of many aspects of family life. I specialize in newborns, kids, seniors, maternity, family, and just about everything in between. I prefer to photograph in the outdoors in natural lighting, but I also have a travel "studio" that I can set up in my garage or in your home if the lovely Michigan weather is uncooperative. I advertise occasional seasonal mini sessions to my facebook and instagram pages. I have included links to those pages at the bottom of this website.
